Design Process
Project Overview
Designed the primary interaction point for Gloo's AI platform—a chat homepage that serves as both entry point and education tool. As AI remains relatively new to many users, the challenge was creating an interface that reduces the intimidation factor while showcasing the platform's full potential.
The Challenge
AI is still relatively new to many users, who often don't know how to interact with it effectively or understand its capabilities. The blank chat box problem: users face an empty interface without knowing what to ask or how to leverage the AI's capabilities.
Solution Approach
Transformed the chat homepage into an educational launchpad that meets users where they are:
Design Elements:
Contextual Suggestions: Examples drawn from users' actual data, calendars, and organization context
Personality Testing: Explored "Jarvis-style" proactive assistance (inspired by Iron Man's AI)
Personal Integration: Suggestions based on hobbies, work patterns, and preferences
Use Case Scenarios: Real-world examples showing practical applications
Research & Iteration:
Tested multiple suggestion strategies with user cohorts
Balanced helpful guidance with avoiding feeling invasive
Refined language to feel conversational rather than robotic
Outcome
Reduced time-to-first-value by helping users discover relevant capabilities immediately.
